Sorry, but I couldn’t resist. One for cognoscenti. Who can resist “the master butcher of Leigh on Sea”? Don’t google that, it makes it too easy. And I see welcome homage to Pump: Young Lust and especially F.I.N.E.:

‘Cause I’m
Alright
Your momma says I’m
Alright
Your daddy says I’m
Alright
and my old lady says I’m
Alright

And one for… well, almost everyone:

man

  1. Not Googled – always rather liked Carter USM – saw them only once, shortly after 101 Damnations was released. They were very good. Tight.

  2. Lord, I thought I was the only one who remembered Carter! Also only saw them once, but rather later – in ’95 (Worry Bomb era – still my fave album tbh). When 101 came out I was still of an age to be reading Smash Hits…;)

  3. Moving up on second base
    Behind William van what’s-his-face
Six foot six and a hundred tons
The undisputed king of the slums
    More aliases than Klaus Barbie
The master butcher from Leigh on Sea
In a hatchback fron Notre Dam
The one and only Sheriff Fatman!

I saw Carter USM a few times, they were always great live. 30 Something was probably my favourite album.

Now how about the Sultans of Ping FC…

  4. Was Nicholas van W ever parodied by Monty Python, a la the Kray twins? It seems an obvious thing to do.

And everyone should read Atmospheric Physicist’s post. Wonderful stuff indeed. I’ll give you “the force field acting on molecules in flight” as a teaser.

    “Dinsdale…?”

  5. Raymond Arritt, “Atmospheric Physicist” is likely Doug Cotton. He regularly goes around a few blogs and spams his claims that the greenhouse effect violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

    [Aka “Physicist with 50 years experience” aka “D o u g C” (a desperate attempt to get through”) aka “D o u g” aka “Physicist” and so on -W]
